Important U.S. Shipping Update: Import Duties Now Collected at Checkout

We have an important shipping update for our customers in the United States.
Following recent changes to U.S. import requirements and Japan Post's international shipping procedures, import duties must now be prepaid before merchandise can be shipped from Japan.
To make ordering from BigSearchOsaka as straightforward as possible, we have updated our checkout to calculate and collect applicable U.S. import duties when you place your order.
An Important Clarification: These Are Government-Imposed Duties
BIG SEARCH OSAKA does not impose these customs duties or determine the applicable duty rates. They are import charges established under U.S. customs and tariff regulations.
When you see a “Duties” charge at checkout, this represents the estimated customs duties applicable to your order, calculated using the product's customs classification and declared value.
BIG SEARCH OSAKA collects this amount in advance and arranges the required prepayment as part of preparing your shipment.
These customs duties are not an additional profit charge from BIG SEARCH OSAKA. They are a cost of importing merchandise into the United States under current regulations. It is bound for USA orders ONLY.
Our goal is to make these costs visible before you complete your purchase, rather than surprise you with an unexpected payment request later.

Why has this changed?
Under the updated shipping procedures implemented by Japan Post on October 15, 2026, applicable U.S. import duties must be prepaid before parcels are dispatched.
Rather than contacting customers separately to arrange duty payments after checkout, we have integrated duty collection into our online checkout.
Will I be charged again when my package arrives?
Import duties collected at checkout are intended to cover the applicable duties prepaid for your shipment.
