One of the messages we hear surprisingly often from our customers is:
“I wanted to order it again… but it’s gone!”
And sometimes, we even get blamed for not stocking enough. 😅
We understand the frustration. You discover something from Japan, decide to give it a try, love it, come back for more…and suddenly, it’s no longer available.
But there’s a reason this happens.
Many of Our Products Aren’t Made Forever
At Big Search Osaka, a big part of what we do is search for interesting products that you normally wouldn’t find outside Japan.
That includes limited-edition flavors, seasonal releases, regional specialties, special collaborations, convenience-store exclusives and products made only for a short production period.
And in Japan, “limited” often really does mean limited.
A manufacturer may produce something for only a few weeks or months. Once that production run ends, stores stop receiving new stock. When the remaining inventory is sold, that can be the end of it.
Sometimes even we don't know exactly when a product will disappear.
“Can You Restock It?”
We always try.
If a product sells out in our shop but is still available somewhere in Japan, we'll do our best to find more.
But there are times when there simply isn't any more to buy.
It isn't that we don't want to restock it. The manufacturer may have ended production, the promotion may have finished, or the remaining stock throughout Japan may already be gone.
And unfortunately, we can't restock something that Japan has stopped making!
Trying Something New Is Part of the Fun
We know that many products on Big Search Osaka are probably things you've never tried before.
That's actually the whole point.
We want our shop to be a place where you discover something different — a new Japanese snack, an unusual flavor, a limited beauty product or something you didn't even know existed.
So here's our advice:
If something catches your eye, don't assume it will still be here next month.
And if it's a limited item that you think you're going to love, you may want to grab more than one.
Because coming back for a second box only works if there is a second box. 😉
There Will Always Be Something New
The good news is that when one limited product disappears, something else usually takes its place.
Japan is constantly releasing new seasonal flavors, collaborations and limited-edition products — and we're constantly looking for them.
That's what makes Big Search Osaka a little different from a regular online Japanese grocery store.
We're not trying to sell the same products forever. We're here to help you discover what's interesting in Japan right now.
So explore, experiment, and try something you've never had before.
Just remember:
See it. Want it. Grab it.
Because with some of our products, when it's gone, it really is gone.
